Take Responsibility

It’s not your fault, but you are responsible.

You’re not to blame, but you are responsible.

Don’t be ashamed. Do be responsible.

Sometimes people think I’m blaming them for being sick. They are mistaken. I don’t assign blame but I do require responsibility. There is no position more empowering than taking responsibility for your life and your illness. It’s the first step in getting well. When you play the victim role, you have no control. If you’re a victim, things can only happen to you. When you take responsibility, you literally become response-able. You are able to respond to the challenges of your life, take action, and affect change in a positive direction. Werner Erhard said it best:

“Responsibility is not burden, fault, praise, blame, credit, shame or guilt. In responsibility, there is no evaluation of good or bad, right or wrong. There is simply what’s so, and your stand. Being responsible starts with the willingness to deal with a situation from the view of life that you are the generator of what you do, what you have and what you are. That is not the truth. It is a place to stand. No one can make you responsible, nor can you impose responsibility on another. It is a grace you give yourself – an empowering context that leaves you with a say in the matter of life.”

I totally agree!! It lifts the cloud of doom from your shoulders when you realize you have a choice!! That’s why I am so grateful for this website!! I am 57 years old and was diagnosed with MS in 2005. At that time the neurologist thought I’d already had MS for 15 years!! I’ve been on my healing journey since June 2009, and having a positive, like-minded support system is crucial to success!!

Thank you for sharing your inspiration and energy!!
